Perimeter Edge Metal Wind Design Seminar: Understanding ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1

The roof edge serves as the building’s first line of defense against damaging winds and severe weather. That’s why specifying a roof edge to be compliant with ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1 and other important testing standards to meet building code is critical. Learn more about how you can significantly reduce risk and liability while protecting roof systems against failure.

Program Learning Objectives:

  • Importance of edge metal
  • Understanding the impact of wind
  • What is ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1 and why it is necessary
  • ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1 testing methods
  • Understanding how to calculate wind design pressure to comply with code requirements

Attendees are Eligible to Earn:

  • One (1) AIA Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) Learning Unit
  • One (1) IIBEC Continuing Education Hour (CEH)

Available Formats:

  • Live, In-Person
  • Live, Webinar

AIA Course Number: MET-104 | AIA Provider Number: J481

Principles of Commercial Roof Ventilation

Looking for a better understanding of the principals of properly ventilating a roof system? This training will not only provide an overview of roof ventilation, but additional understanding of the unique needs of a commercial building compared to residential buildings.

Program Learning Objectives:

  • Principles involved in properly ventilating a roof system
  • Additional, unique needs of commercial buildings compared to residential
  • Role of Net Free Area (NFA) in commercial roof ventilation

Attendees are Eligible to Earn:

  • One (1) AIA Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) Learning Unit
  • One (1) IIBEC Continuing Education Hour (CEH)

Available Formats:

  • Live, In-Person
  • Live, Webinar

AIA Course Number: VTFF03 | AIA Provider Number: J481

Commercial Low Slope Roof Edge System Wind Design Seminar Understanding Design (ANSI/SPRI ED-1) and Testing Standards (ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435 ES-1, ANSI/SPRI GT-1

This course provides an overview of how the ANSI/SPRI design standard ED-1 is constructed to inform consultants, architects, and contractors best practice methods to ensure low roof edge systems are incorporated into building designs. This course then reviews and provides insight into how certain edge system products are tested to ensure adherence to existing codes and provides resources for the audience on how to research and select the proper products to meet design and code standards.

Program Learning Objectives:

  • Why are these standards necessary?
  • What does each standard mean for architectural design?
  • What are the benefits of products meeting each standard?
  • How to calculate design pressure for a specific building’s roof

Attendees are Eligible to Earn:

  • One (1) AIA Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) Learning Unit
  • One (1) IIBEC Continuing Education Hour (CEH)

Available Formats:

  • Live, In-Person
  • Live, Webinar

AIA Course Number: MET-106 | AIA Provider Number: J481
