Princeton University Stadium, Princeton, NJ

More Than Sports

When looking to build a new stadium, Princeton University sought a design that allowed the area to become a true extension of the campus. They wanted to expand the structure to include not only their traditional sporting events (football, soccer, lacrosse and track and field) but also to accommodate meetings, banquets and events.

Achieving the Look

Perma-Tite Coping was the perfect solution for the approximately 1,607 foot-long horseshoe shaped structure, which houses concession stands, restrooms, ticket offices and a press box. Metal-Era’s engineers were able to work with the installers to obtain specific field dimensions for this project, creating a perfect radial fit for the building’s unique shape.

The roof plaza is a high traffic area for media personnel and film crews during the Ivy League sports games held there, so it was important that the roof edge have a clean look. All of the coping, including the radius, is comprised of 12' sections to ensure a seamless appearance. Perma-Tite’s factory fabricated miters and concealed splice plates also provide an aesthetically pleasing look from any view.

A Winning Result

Built on the site where historic Palmer Stadium once stood, Princeton University Stadium seats 27,800 with additional standing room for a total of 30,000 spectators. The design and building execution of this project reflects University’s historic appearance and is a continuance of the campus.
