2011 AIA & RCI Education Program

Metal-Era's popular continuing education program will continue into 2011. The two courses are available as free, monthly webinars. Understanding ANSI/SPRI ES-1 is offered on the second Thursday of every month at 10:30 am Central time. Principles of Commercial Ventilation is offered on the fourth Thursday of every month at 10:30 am Central time. Additional presentations (either face-to-face or webinar) are available upon request.
Metal-Era’s partnerships with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Roof Consultants Institute (RCI) allow design professionals to one AIA continuing education unit, (CEU) one AIA health, safety and welfare credit (HSW) and one RCI continuing education hour (CEH).
Understanding ANSI/SPRI ES-1 covers wind uplift issues related to the roof edge. Program content includes:
- Previous wind design standards
- The need for ANSI/SPRI ES-1 standard
- ES-1 standard and key components
- Calculation of wind design pressure
Principles of Commercial Roof Ventilation focuses on the unique demands of roof ventilation for commercial buildings. Program content includes:
- The principles involved in properly ventilating a roof system
- Additional, unique needs of commercial buildings compared to residential buildings
- The role net free area (NFA) plays in commercial ventilation
